Weighted blankets are therapeutic sleep assets that can help you sleep more peacefully. They’re ideal for people who are leading stressful and tense lifestyles, which leaves them feeling panicked and anxious when it’s time for bed.

Battling bedtime anxiety can be extremely difficult, but weighted blankets and the DTP therapeutic and gentle massage helps leave worries and anxiety outside the bed.

One of the most popular therapeutic blankets is the Gravity Weighted Blanket, which is also considered one of the first weighted blankets to appear on the market.

Its unique design, gentle pressure technology, and thousands of positive reviews spark a lot of hype and in this review, we’ll detail whether Gravity Weighted blanket is worth all the hype it’s getting.

Gravity Weighted Blanket Review: Design

We’ll look into how many size options, dimensions, weights, and shapes are available. Additionally, we’ll look into the design of the inner filling and whether the cover feels enough comforting and cuddly.

Sizes & Dimensions

Unlike other weighted blankets on the market, Gravity Weighted Blanket comes in a lot of size and dimension settings. Additionally, it comes in a lot of weight settings too and a children-friendly option that is good for both younger and older children.

Let’s take a look at the options for dimensions.

  • Children – 66 x 42-inch
  • Single – 72 x 48-inch
  • Queen and King come in the same dimensions and measure – 90 x 90-inch dimensions, which is ideal for couples who both struggle with stress and anxiety and want to have an easier time sleeping.

As mentioned earlier, there are a lot of weight options for adults, while the children option is fixed at one size. Multiple weight options for different dimensions are ideal for people with different physical composition and different sleeping preferences. With that in mind:

  • Children weighted blankets have a universal 10 lbs mark.
  • Single size weighted blankets come in three weight options: 15, 20, and 25 lbs.
  • Queen and King beds are available in only one weight options and that’s 35 lbs.

Gravity Weighted Blankets also recommend the weight that works the best with the selectable weight options.

  • 15lbs option is the best for people heavier than 100 lbs.
  • The 20lbs option works the best for 180lbs+ people.
  • 25lbs option is the best for 230 lbs +.

People who are heavier than that and prefer having extra weight covering them can use the 35 lbs blankets, although the dimensions may be too large for a twin or a full bed.

Filling

Let’s talk about the inner filling of the weighted blanket by Gravity. It’s one of the most important factors, as to how weight is distributed across the bedding determines the quality of DTP therapy and gentle pressure massage over your body.

Gravity Weighted Blanket has a premium filling that feels luxurious and therapeutic. It boasts premium-grade glass beads, which is the most luxurious way to fill your weighted blanket. The micro-glass beads are extremely hard to feel, they are stitched carefully and precisely so that you wouldn’t feel discomfort as you’re laying.

Instead, they’re made so that the weight is equally distributed across the blanket, allowing you to give in to the pressure-induced therapeutic massage. Glass beads are mostly the best option to go with weighted blankets, as they are hardly noticeable, and secured to a duvet cover or some other materials that keep them firm and stable in one position.

Note: Cheaper weighted blankets feature either chains or metal and polyfill that is not as durable as the micro glass beads.

Cover

To secure, fix, and cover the microbeads that give the blankets their weight, Gravity needed to include the most premium and plushy material as a cover. The luxurious micro-plush duvet cover gently surrounds the fine-grade glass beads and feels soft and gentle towards your skin as you’re laying.

The gridded stitching over the glass beads ensures that they are well fixed and won’t lose their density or start to loosen up over time. Instead, the glass beads are durable and secure, and the duvet cover feels soft, fresh, and rejuvenating.

Depending on which option you take, the uncovering may feel more or less convenient for you. The 2nd generation of Gravity blankets features elastic button connectors with ties. However, the newer, 3rd generation features a zippered cover that is removable and easy to wash.

In a way, the cover acts as a cocoon. It is stitching for the glass beads so that they wouldn’t move and that way not provide sufficient weight to create the gentle pressure sensation. Additionally, the comfortable material massages your body and keeps you snuggled into the bed.

The overall weighted blanket acts as a cocoon too. When you feel that your sensory overstimulation makes you feel like a traffic jam, the weighted blanket will apply its DTP technology to keep you calm, soothed, and relaxed.

It’s important to note that weighted blankets are available in three neutral colors to fit the style of your room the best. You can purchase it in Grey, Navy, and White.

Gravity Weighted Blanket Review: Performance

Now that we detailed the design and features of the Gravity Weighted Blanket, let’s take a look at how it feels, how to maintain it, and if there’s any guarantee if the blanket breaks.

The Feel

The feel of the Gravity Weighted Blanket varies on the option you took. For example, if you’re regularly sweating during the night and having hot flashes, picking the regular weighted blanket is not a good idea. Fortunately, there is also the Ice blanket suited ideally for hot summer nights when falling asleep gets challenging with extensive sweating.

Nevertheless, the Gravity Weighted Blanket performs great for everyone who struggles with falling asleep due to anxiety. It’s no secret that life can occasionally get stressful and troublesome. When you feel like there’s no escape to a certain situation, the glass beads of this weighted blanket will roll you in a roll and comfort you into long and peaceful night rest.

The Deep Touch Pressure (DTP) has various soothing benefits in people who are anxious and develop acute and chronic insomnia over some time.

Anxiety is often responsible for making people insomniac, so the deep touch massage technology should first alleviate the anxiety symptoms before aiding you into sleep.

However, the therapeutic effects of weighted blankets can’t come out of anywhere. Make sure that the room you’re sleeping in is dark, as artificial light can prevent the release of melatonin, which is a chemical that tells the brain when it’s time to sleep.

Also, ensure that the room is quiet, and if you don’t have a way to neutralize the ambient noise, you should try using a white noise machine.

One of the key benefits of a Gravity weighted blanket is that it won’t only help you with anxiety and insomnia. It also helps with physical ailments caused by restless leg syndrome, poor blood circulation, or anemia, where your feet are cold even under two layers of socks.

During the winter months, it’s important to ensure that your body also feels comfortable during the night, so that you can wake up rested and function optimally throughout the day.

Maintenance

The Gravity weighted blanket is quite easy to maintain. It’s completely necessary to take good care of the blankets you purchase, especially if you will use them throughout winter and other cold days.

It’s inevitable that at some point your blanket will get stained or dirty, especially if you opt for the white duvet option.

As mentioned earlier, it’s extremely easy to clean. All you have to do is to remove the cover, depending on whether you choose a zippered or button-encased option.

You can wash the cover in the washing machine, with cold water, and dry on tumble dry. Although nothing is specified about ironing the duvet cover, we advise against it.

Even the layer with glass beads can be cleaned. If you opt to do that, make sure to only hand wash it, not to damage or dislocate the beads that are stitched into the material. Also, only air dry it.

Warranty & Return Policy

Something that we find extremely disappointing about the Gravity Weighted Blanket is that there’s no real warranty, unlike is the case with other covers on the market. The Ice blanket comes with a warranty and returns policy, but unfortunately, this model doesn’t have a convenient warranty.

Note: When we say convenient, we mean a warranty that lasts several years. Unfortunately, for this model, the warranty lasts as long as the free return policy which is 30 days.

With that in mind, you only have the time to test the blanket for 30 days. If it breaks after that – too bad!

Even though there’s not so great warranty option to choose from when it comes to standard Gravity weighted blanket, the company takes pride in having helpful and resourceful customer support. When purchasing the weighted blanket, make sure to query them with every question you may have, and they’ll help you.

Pros & Cons of Gravity Weighted Blanket

Gravity weighted blanket is made out of premium material and provides a top-notch experience for people who face struggles falling asleep due to anxiety. It’s convenient for both children and adults and available in a large selection of colors, weight options, and dimensions. However, there are a few things we didn’t like.

Key Benefits:

  • It is available in a great variety of dimensions and weight options, especially for single variants.
  • It is available in three neutral, and easy to fit everywhere colors.
  • Uses premium-grade glass beads for optimal weight distribution across the bed.
  • You can also opt for a cooling option for a breezier night rest.
  • Helps with soothing anxiety, depression, insomnia, while also assisting with conditions like Alzheimer’s.
  • Can help with poor blood circulation and anemia.
  • It’s easy to maintain and clean.
  • It has options for children and couples.
  • Great customer support.
  • Gravity weighted blanket is also hypoallergenic, so don’t worry about dust mites or other germs.
  • Although it isn’t backed by a lengthy warranty, Gravity weighted blanket is extremely durable, and even after abuse and long use, you won’t notice any lumps that form on it.

Drawbacks:

  • Gravity weighted blankets may be more expensive than other competitive weighted blankets in the market.
  • There’s no reliability. The return policy lasts 30 days, after which the warranty ends. That can be a deal-breaker as other weighted blankets on the market come with warranties of up to 5 years.

How does Gravity Weighted Blanket compare To Other Weighted Blankets?

Gravity weighted blanket is just amazing. It’s equipped with glass beads that distribute the weight equally, yielding outstanding gentle pressure massage results for people who can’t fall asleep due to anxiety. Here’s how it compares to other blankets on the market.

Gravity Weighted Blanket vs. Layla Weighted Blanket

Gravity weighted blanket and Layla weighted blanket are similar in many ways, yet so much different. However, whether you will choose the Gravity or Layla blanket is solely up to you.

Gravity weighted blanket is available in multiple sizes and weights. There are three weights for single sleepers, one weight for children, and one for couples. Layla’s sleep is limited when it comes to weight choices, they are tied to dimensions. The twin bed dimension allows for 15 lbs weight.

However, the King option comes with 25 lbs weight, which is still lighter than the heaviest Gravity weight, which is 35 lbs for Queen/King variant.

Both blankets come with glass beads stitched into the fabric, while the Layla weighted blanket uses micro glass beads. Also, the cover fabric is different. Gravity weighted blanket uses a duvet cover, while Layla has a two-sided cover with mink-like fur and 100% cotton.

Both options perform well, except that the Layla option tends to get hot at times. However, Layla weighted blanket is a better value for the money and comes with a 120-days sleep trial and 5 years warranty.

It’s worth noting that Gravity Weighted blanket also offers other products that could make the consumers, especially those who suffer from anxiety and insomnia to sleep sounder and more peacefully. There are not many Layla products that offer the same benefits as a weighted blanket.

Gravity even collaborated with a popular and credible mattress maker Purple in making the trademark Purple Gravity weighted blanket with even better soothing properties compared to the original Gravity weighted blanket. However, it’s pricier than other Gravity options.
